Certification of Diamonds
Why make sure the diamond you are buying is certified

The accompanying certificate of a diamond is very important even to the expert. You will do well to demand one with each purchase!

Certificates

The most credible and best recognized certificates of diamond value are issued by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). European jewelers use a similar certification laboratory known as the European Gemological Laboratory (E.G.L). In South Africa, the Jewelry Council of South Africa issues the same credible certificate. These certification companies are all non-profit organizations, dedicated to keeping the highest possible standards in the diamond industry. They are relied upon by reputable dealers throughout the world.

In as much as our diamond-cutting factory is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. We have all of our diamonds certified by the Jewelry Council of South Africa (J.C.S.A.). We have compared and tested these certificates with the Gemological Institute of America and know they match the same high standards. We guarantee that the J.C.S.A. certificate will match or be better than the G.I.A. certificate on the same diamond. If not we will return your money immediately.

The effect of former sanctions against South Africa created a great deal of difficulty for the South Africa diamond dealers. Many buyers turned to Antwerp and Tel Aviv to escape sanction criticism and eliminate travel expense to Johannesburg. Only recently, with a new government in place, have some of them returned to the Johannesburg Diamond Center. The J.C.S.A. has a reputation for a very careful and tough grading process in order to promote and improve trading relationships worldwide. You can depend on their grading certificate. It is of the highest quality.

All of our certificates are also accompanied by a G.I.A. appraisal. This certificate will tell you the color, the clarity, and the carat weight. This appraisal is necessary to have for insurance purposes. Insurance companies recognize this G.I.A. appraisal in order to protect the value of your diamond purchase.

While some may argue that the certificate adds to the cost of a diamond, it is very likely that you may pay more than the diamond is worth without a certificate. You owe it to yourself to know for certain the true certified color and clarity of the diamond you are buying. In addition to the several certificates we have for our diamonds we also have several G.I.A. Diamond Grading graduates on our staff if you are in question of any of the grading we would be happy to set up a private consultation with you.
