Diamond Expedition, Salt Lake City

Diamond Expedition in Salt Lake City has gone back generations of diamond sales. Originally in 1948 J Golden Barton served a L.D.S. mission in South Africa where he begun to purchase stones for friends and family. His love for the country has been passed on from generation to generation. His son Jay Golden Barton, seen in several of the pictures, has cumulated over 4 years of his life in South Africa. First at a young age of 16, he was a foreign exchange student in Cape town and then later returned as a L.D.S missionary to South Africa.

Wholesale Office

It was Jay who took the business to the next level in 1995 when he started mining stones and selling them to jewelry stores throughout the west. We have a small showroom through which we sell to the public. In the backroom is where all the action happens; We sell and ship stones throughout America and we put stones on memo to jewelry stores.

Most of the business done in the United States is done on a memo basis. Stores do not like to put their own money at risk and will ask wholesalers like myself to ship them a stone. If they sell the diamond they will than pay the wholesaler for the stone. If they do not sell the stone to their client, they will ship the stone back to us. This how 80% of this office's business is done.
